Why is there algae in the Smart Drinking Fountain? How do I prevent this?

Water fountains should be cleaned regularly. Otherwise , algae may appear. Pets going outdoor may also bring in algae microorganisms. Algae can also be caused by tap water. When algae appears, it will be very difficult to remove them.  It is recommended to replace the filter and inner water container when this happens.
